Ryan Giggs is preparing to make a comeback as a manager, having maintained a low profile since his resignation as Wales manager in 2022.
What happened to Ryan Giggs?
He was forced to resign from his dream role amid allegations of domestic abuse against his ex-partner, and was first arrested on suspicion of assault in November 2020.
He stood trial, with jurors unable to reach majority verdicts on allegations that he had assaulted his former partner Kate Greville and her sister Emma in the incident.
The jury also could not reach a majority verdict on a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour spanning a three-year period.
Why it matters for Ryan Giggs
A retrial was abandoned in 2023, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropping the charges after Greville said she felt "worn down" by the proceedings and could not face giving evidence again.
Ryan Giggs has maintained a low profile ever since, but has been serving as director of football at Salford City, the League Two club he previously co-owned alongside his Class of '92 peers.
What comes next for Ryan Giggs?
He stepped down from that role several months ago amid mounting speculation that he is preparing to make a comeback as a manager and return to the spotlight.
Speaking about management and a potential return to the touchline, he said: "I loved managing Wales, obviously. I do miss it, so hopefully."
He expanded on the subject during a chat with former team-mate Rio Ferdinand on his podcast, revealing that he was moved to tears while watching Wales compete at the Euros from his home.
At the age of 50, Giggs and partner Zara Charles, who is 14 years his junior, welcomed a daughter, named Cora, on November 1, 2024.
Cora is Giggs' third child, and he is already father to two children – Zach, 19, and Libby.
Giggs' representative confirmed: "Ryan and his partner Zara are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Cora Giggs, who was born on Friday 1 November."
They extend their warmest gratitude to all the amazing staff, especially the midwives, at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Ryan Giggs is now set to return to football, and his fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback.
